Homeowners

Protecting your home and your belongings is one of our top priorities. We offer homeowners insurance that combines the coverage of your home, the contents of your home and the loss of use. In a homeowners package, there are four exposures that are covered. These coverages are listed below.

Coverage A — Dwelling: Under the first coverage category, the physical dwelling is covered.
This includes rooms, fireplaces and flooring. Detached garages and structures are not included
in this coverage however, garages that are attached to the dwelling are covered.

Coverage B — Other Structures: Insures structures not attached to the dwelling in Coverage A.
Sheds, detached garages, guest houses, pool houses and fences are just some of the structures
that are covered under this category.

Coverage C — Personal Property: Included in your homeowners policy is coverage for the
contents of your home. To better illustrate what this means, consider tipping your home upside
down and shaking the dwelling. Everything that would fall out—couches, tables, beds, electronics,
etc, would be covered under this coverage. Specific coverages are available for non-scheduled
valuables such as jewelry, coins and electronic data.

Coverage D — Loss of Use/ Additional Living Expenses: Coverage D reimburses your living
expenses if you are living away from home because of a covered loss, such as a fire or object
falling on your home. This category will apply if your home is deemed uninhabitable while it is
being repaired.

Personal Liability - This portion of your homeowners provides coverage against a claim or lawsuit against you because of your personal activities on or off your property. This can include property damage or bodily injury. Personal liability protects not only yourself but family members that live with you as well.

Medical Payments - Our homeowners policy also covers medical expenses paid to those who are accidently injured on your property regardless of fault. This coverage does not apply to family members who live with you.

Additional Coverages are available and in some cases recommended for valuables. Although
Coverage C—Personal Property does cover some losses, often the amount covered does not reflect the replacement value of the item. In those instances we recommend purchasing a rider. A rider is an attachment to a policy that lists specific items that are fully covered. Examples of a rider include engagement rings, furs, collectables and fine art. Riders are usually inexpensive and a good way to ensure that your valuables are fully insured.
